Samsung Electronics reportedly advances Pyeongtaek P5 Fab2 progress by about half a year, plans to break ground in July
Industry insiders stated that construction equipment is gradually entering the site, indicating that substantive construction of P5 Fab 2 is about to begin, with a high likelihood of groundbreaking in about a month. As the wave of AI infrastructure investment drives a surge in storage chip orders, Samsung has advanced its capital investment schedule by approximately six months compared to the original plan. P5 Fab 2 will be the sixth factory built within Samsung Electronics’ Pyeongtaek campus, and it is also the final semiconductor production line at the campus. Based on calculations for 300mm wafers, its monthly capacity is expected to reach 200,000 to 300,000 units, aiming for initial production in 2029. The facility will cover all products ranging from HBM to next-generation DRAM, NAND flash, and advanced process foundry production lines.
