Ghana is considering transferring control of Gold Fields' largest gold mine to local companies
Sources reveal that if the government moves forward with the plan, Ghanaian mining companies will be required to submit bids for evaluation; at the same time, authorities are also weighing the option to extend Gold Fields' lease. In evaluating the bids, the government will focus on the bidders' commitments to environmental remediation, local employment, and infrastructure development in host communities. (Bloomberg)
